Tracey Barry


Tracey Barry, EA - (On leave)
Tracey grew up in Ottawa, where she obtained a diploma in Developmental Studies and Neuropsychology. She later moved to Victoria to complete her B.A. in Human and Social Development at UVic. She has been working with children and adults with developmental disabilities for 12 years in a variety of settings, including group homes, private homes, and in the classroom. In her spare time, she works as an amateur photographer and loves spending time with her husband and young children.


Rob Johnson

Rob Johnson, Education Assistant
Rob has been a support worker for over 15 years, supporting individuals of all ages, from preschoolers to adults in the community. In 2008 he trained as an Education Assistant through the Selkirk College Community/Classroom Support Worker program. He spent three years as a Teaching Assistant at the Nelson Waldorf School. Rob has also been teaching, composing, and performing music for over a decade. He has shared the stage with Jan Arden, 5440, and legendary saxophonist Ernie Watts. Since moving to Victoria Rob has been busy performing weekly at Hermann's jazz club and recently performed at the Victoria International Jazz festival. Rob loves spending time with his family and his lovely daughter Violet.



Laura Lane

Laura Lane, Education Assistant
Laura grew up in Whitehorse Yukon, leaving there to complete her B.A. in Psychology (in Victoria) in 1985. Since then she has spent time working, volunteering and taking courses in counselling and personal development to help others. This has included completing her Teaching Certificate for Music for Young Children (MYC) and instructing music groups for children; supporting clients for the Crisis and Information Telephone Line; working in Therapeutic Recreation for seniors and coordinating and instructing a Therapeutic Recreation Certificate Program for adults. Laura has been with Elizabeth Buckley school since 2008 and in this time has attained a Certificate from the Provincial Outreach Program for Autism and Related Disorders. In her spare time she loves to create music - everything from playing the piano to singing, playing percussion to conducting choirs and accompanying guitarists, cellists and...anyone else! Recently renamed the "Celebration Pianist," she hopes to continue her passion of creating music with and for others.



Roberta MacDonald

Roberta MacDonald, Principal, Teacher - Maple Class, French & ASL
Roberta completed her B.A. in French Language and Literature at UVic, her teacher training at McGill University in Montreal, and a M.Ed. in Special Education with a focus on autism and developmental disabilities from UBC. She has been working in the education field for over 20 years: as a classroom teacher in all levels from Montessori preschool to grade 9, as Director of Science Venture at UVic, and as the Community School Coordinator in Sooke. She has been the Principal at EBS since 2009. She is passionate about science, math, music, art, and all things geeky, and loves to share this with her students. Outside of school, she enjoys hiking, playing the piano, and spending time with her family.



Heather Sasaki

Heather Sasaki, Vice-Principal, Teacher - Cedar Class
Heather completed her B.Ed. at the University of Regina and a Certificate of French as a Second Language at Laval University. She taught K-7 Core French before moving to Japan to teach various elementary grades at Fukuoka International School. In addition to teaching, she has worked in the area of school accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. After 18 years in Japan, she moved her family back to Canada to live in beautiful Victoria. Heather has traveled extensively throughout Asia and loves exploring other cultures and cuisines. She also enjoys camping, reading, walking her dog and spending time with her family.


Renata Young

Renata Young, Education Assistant
Renata has over 15 years experience working and volunteering with adults and children with special needs, and has been an Education Assistant at Elizabeth Buckley School since September of 2000. Her educational background includes a Community Support Worker/ Teaching Assistant Diploma, as well as many courses in Psychology, Social Work, and American Sign Language. In her spare time she is a singer-songwriter and loves to rehearse with her band and spend time with her family.
