"I think that one's art is a growth inside one. I do not think one can explain growth. It is silent and subtle. One does not keep digging up a plant to see how it grows." - Emily Carr
With generous support of the ArtStarts "Artists in Education" program, we are pleased to welcome artist Susanne Ledingham back to the school. This year we will focus on artistic representations of earthquakes in cultures around the world. The artist will also lead the children through explorations of form and stress and how they relate to earthquakes. Finally, the artist will teach the children about art as a means of comfort during times of stress. We are very excited to once again have this opportunity through the sponsorship of the ArtStarts program. Here is a video of some of the work the children did last year during their exploration of the art of Emily Carr. The piece focuses particularly on ways that we support the students with special needs in a regular classroom setting and the benefits of our approach for all of the students.
